Must-Do Things In Switzerland

The Matterhorn - The imposing pyramid-shaped mountain is one of the most popular and iconic mountains of the Alps. “Matterhorn” in German refers to “peak in the meadows” and rightly so! It is over 14,600 feet tall. The way the Eiffel tower represents France, Matterhorn is for Switzerland (although the border is shared by Italy). The nearest town to reach Matterhorn is Zermatt (northeast) and the Italian town Breuil-Cervinia (South). Matterhorn is extremely challenging to climb ever for seasoned climbers hence it is not recommended for newbies.  Gornergrat, Riffelsee Lake, Klein Matterhorn, Schwarzsee, and Rothorn are some of the best places to enjoy the views of Matterhorn.

Jungfraujoch - Your Switzerland trip is incomplete without a visit to Jungfraujoch. With an altitude of 3400 meters, it features the highest train station in Europe. Imagine a railway station at a height of 11,600 feet that was built in the 19th century! Mind blowing, isn’t it? It is also a UNESCO world heritage site. You can reach there either through a cable car or by a cogwheel train. Jungfraujoch is more than just a train station, you can visit the Sphinx observatory deck for breathtaking views. Another attraction is the Ice palace, where you can walk under an ice tunnel that too in a glacier is something that you cannot miss out on. Last but not the least, visit the Glacier plateau for those perfect Instagram stories.

Lucerne - Is a small yet beautiful city located in the central part of Switzerland. With lake Lucerne and the mountains in the backdrop, it is the ideal city to start your Switzerland trip. It offers a nice blend of natural wonders, cultural attractions and good dining options. If you want to organize a meeting or host a party or have a romantic dinner, Lucerne ticks all the boxes. An evening boat ride at lake Lucerne is a must as you can enjoy the spectacular views of Mt.Pilatus and Mt.Rigi while satisfying your tastebuds with some scrumptious Indian food.

Lake Geneva - Situated between Switzerland and France, Lake Geneva is one of the largest lakes in Western Europe. The shape of the lake is similar to a crescent moon. You can enjoy the stunning views of the Alps from the East, and picturesque villages and castles on the north side. You can also spot some rare birds like a red kite and common buzzard here. If you love watersports or want to brush up on your sailing skills, Lake Geneva is the best place to be! Boating, sailing, windsurfing - you name it Lake Geneva has it. As you call it a day, go for a stroll along the Riviera beach, it will be therapeutic, we promise!

Zurich - Is the largest city in Switzerland ticking all the requirements for a cosmopolitan city and vibrant nightlife yet not compromising on the natural beauty. Zurich has famous art galleries, museums that are rich in history, it is also the home for some of the world’s leading fashion brands and some fantastic restaurants. Zurich is also one of the top cities that got featured in the most livable places and it is also the happiest city in Switzerland. If you have kids, you have to take them to the Zurich zoo for some quality fun and entertainment. If you want to shop around for Swiss Knife, watches, cheese, chocolates, etc. Zurich offers you amazing choices. But do keep in mind that many products are very expensive.
