Must-Do Things In Scandinavia

As Scandinavia consists of multiple countries, it has so much to offer. If you are limited by time,  you will need to narrow down the places where you need to visit. We have done this for you!

Northern Lights, Tromso (Norway) - Northern Lights are one of the main attractions in Scandinavia. However, you need to be at the right place and at the right time and have a bit of luck too! Tromso is the place to be to watch this magical experience. The best time would be around mid-September to early April. This is the time when the weather is cold and dry. Northern lights occur due to the particles getting trapped by the solar wind in the Earth’s magnetic field. The lights flash when the particles crash with the atmosphere which leads to colored flames.

The Atlantic Road, Norway - It is one of the most beautiful roads to drive in the world. The road was voted as Norway’s engineering feat of the century in 2005. With eight bridges, the road is like a worm from Karvag to Vevang. It brings you to the sea without the need for a boat or cruise. The intention of this road is not to get you from point A to point B but to offer you a drive with great visual experience and long-lasting memories. The road is toll-free. You can park your car at the designated viewpoints, climb a hillock and enjoy the fresh air with stunning views of the ocean.

Ice Hotel, Sweden - Have you ever dreamt of staying in a hotel made of ice? Sounds interesting doesn’t it? This hotel was built in 1989. The rooms, bar and art gallery are all made of ice and snow. The temperatures are set between -5 degrees to -8 degrees to keep the beautifully hand-sculpted ice in shape and you can even sleep on a bed made of ice. But don’t worry you can stay warm with the thick mattress, and thermal sleeping bags. You can spend the day visiting art galleries, enjoy activities, sip a drink or visit the ice suite for one of its kind experiences.

Stockholm Archipelago, Sweden - Archipelago is just 20 minutes from Stockholm. It has close to 30,000 islands. With over 650 square miles, the area remains largely untouched by civilization. Unfortunately, you won’t have time to visit all of them. So here we have hand picked some of the top islands that are a must visit during your trip. Fjaderholmarna (explore the seaside, forest trails, good place to buy handcrafted goods ), Vaxholm (visit the huge fortress Vaxholms Fastning, picturesque houses and sip a coffee at the famous cafes), Grinda (known as the bathing paradise of Stockholm, people flock the island during the weekend to relax and rejuvenate), Svartso (one of the largest island in Archipelago, rent a bike and explore lakes, forest, farmland and views of the baltic sea), Ingmarso (It’s a heaven on earth for walkers, with unspoilt woods, lakes and sandy bays it is a great place to sit back, relax and enjoy the views) and Sandon (It’s one of the furthest island in Archipelago. Best for sunbathing and having an outdoor lunch amidst the scenic views)

Copenhagen, Denmark - One of the oldest and most popular cities in Europe is a melting pot of stunning architecture, vibrant culture and delicious food. It is also known as the most relaxed capital city. Its rich heritage can be seen at the iconic waterfront of Nyhavn, the National museum of Denmark, Christiansborg Palace and the Tivoli Gardens. The history is well complemented with contemporary buildings with green corridors, waterways and bridges. The city is just perfect for taking a stroll with good cafes and world famous Noma restaurant (note - if you want to dine here, you need to make a reservation months ahead! No, we are not joking!)

Scandinavia is still off the radar from many tourist lenses which means it is largely unspoiled. The natural wonders, awe-inspiring architecture, idyllic beaches and scrumptious food make this a one-of-its-kind holiday destination. Excited already?
